Abstract

                      This was a survey research which was conducted to study the Administration of learning and teaching in primary schools under the office of  Bangkhunthien District, Bangkok Metropolis in 5 aspects, namely organization of learning and teaching activities, uses of teaching media, learning and teaching environment, a promotion of good characteristics of students and measurement and evaluation. The study samples consisted of 341 teachers who teach students of Prathomsuksa 1-6 from 5 large-size primary schools of Bangkhunthien District, Bangkok. The research tool was the constructed questionnaire with 5 rating scales, and the data collected were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test (ANOVA)

                      It was found that the administration of academic affairs in terms of teachers’ management of learning and teaching in 5 primary schools was, on the whole, in high level for all aspects. The aspect which were of the most mean value was the promotion of good characteristics of students and then came in the order of their mean values measurement and evaluation, organization of learning and teaching activities, and environment aspects respectively, and the use of teaching media was the aspect which was of the least mean value, When considering the aspect of learning and teaching organization, it was found that the teachers have given the importance to the organization of learning units of courses and the interim teaching of virtues and ethics for the subject matters taught, while there was the least organization of teaching students to study the practical local wisdom.

In using the teaching media, the teachers have given the importance to the selection of teaching media which are suitable for students’ ages, knowledge and experiences and also the teaching media which are related to the lesson content and teaching purposes. For using equipment media such as overhead projector or sound equipment, they were practically found with little use. For environmental aspect, the teachers have given the importance to the organization of the environmental condition to be ready, disciplinary, clean and safe and also the creation of atmosphere supporting to learning and teaching. For the use of places outside the schools to be learning sources such as museum or communities or temples, they were practically found with little use. For the promotion of good characteristics of students, the teachers have given the importance to the encouragement of students to love nation, religion and monarch and also to the promotion of students to be disciplinary and ambitious to learn. For the organization of activities against the protection and avoidance of drug addiction, if was practically found with little use, and for measurement and evaluation, the teachers have given the importance to the measurement of practical activities of students with the emphasis on understanding and application while the pre-test on students’ readiness was practically found with little use.

                      On the whole, the results of comparison of the administration of each aspect concerning primary school teachers’ management of learning and teaching classified by different sexes, ages, qualifications, classes, groups of leaning matters taught and different working experiences were found not to be significantly different at .05 level.
