Abstract

 

ABSTRACT

                             The main objectives of this research are 1) to study the Buddhist desirable leadership of community leaders in accordance with people’s opinion;  2) to compare the people’s opinions towards  the Buddhist desirable leadership of community leaders in Bangraknoi Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province, classified by personal factors; and 3) to  study guidelines in developing the Buddhist desirable leadership of community leaders in Bangraknoi Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province.

 

          The 420 samples of this research  were randomly chosen from the people living in Bangraknoi Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province. The tool used for data collection was the questionnaire which validated by five specialists, with the value of reliability equal to 0.87.  Program for social science research was employed  for data analysis by using statistical techniques such as frequencies, percentage, average, standard deviation(S.D) for describing data from variables or personal characteristics. The analysis was also done through t-test for analysis the hypotheses in order to test the average difference between the two groups and f- test by one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA) for testing the difference between the averages from three or more groups. 

 

The findings of this study are concluded as follows :

The overall people’s opinion towards the Buddhist desirable leadership of community leaders in Bangraknoi Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province was found at high level. Having considered by each aspect, it was also rated at the high levels at all aspects, ranking from the most to the least in terms of means such as Parisannuta : knowing the assembly, Dhamannuta : knowing the law, Atthannuta : knowing the meaning, Mattannuta : Moderation, Attannuta: knowing oneself, Kalannuta: knowing the proper time, and Puggalannuta : knowing the individual, respectively.

With regard to comparison of people’s opinion towards the Buddhist desirable leadership of community leaders in Bangraknoi Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province classified by personal factors, sex  was noted no significant differences even at .05 level, whereas  it was noticed that age, family status, occupation, years of working, level of education, and  income were found statistically significant different at .01 and .05 levels.

Regarding to problems and obstacles  of leadership of community leaders in Bangraknoi Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi Province, it was found that sometimes community leaders were not able to follow the specified rules and regulations, some rules and regulations were sophisticated to understand, sometimes there was emotion mixing in  work, gossip prevailing in workplace,  there was working over other’s jobs, there was difficult adaptation in working for new workers, there were public materials for personal use, sometimes there was unnecessary budget allocation for administration, no planned works in advance causing confusion in working, whenever emergent situation the administrators were not able to response it, works did not meet enough community requirements, job allocation was not consistent with the capacity, and working atmosphere seemed to be serious.

Suggestions for improvement were noted as follows : there should be systematic support for the community leaders to follow the specified rules and regulations, the job that sophisticated should has the Manual and clear explanation, there should no emotion in workplace, the other’s good deeds should be always mentioned, work with their job description and duties must be practiced, there should be closed care of new workers in order to easily adapt themselves in work environment, there should be no public use for the personal one, there should be enough budget allocation necessary for administration, there always be working plans in order to solve the working confusion, administrators should be alert in unexpected problem solving training, there must be wide community requirements, there must be helping services to meet the community requirements by asking the real needs of each community, work allocation must consistent with the capacity and the flexible working atmosphere must be created.
