The objectives of this study were: 1) to study the level of the community leaders' participation in the prevention and suppression of crime in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province,   2) to compare the participation of the community leaders in the prevention and suppression of crime in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province by classifying on the personal factors, and 3) to study the problems, obstacles, and suggestions for the participation of the community leaders in the prevention and suppression of crime in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province. The sample was 225 community leaders in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province. The tool of the research was questionnaire with 0.926 of reliability. The analysis of data used Statistical Package for Social Science. The statistics for analysis data used Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test, and F-test with Least Significant Difference: LSD.

Results of the Research

1. Overall, the participation of the community leaders in the prevention and suppression of crime in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province was at the middle level ( = 2.91). When considering each aspect, it was found that the participation of the community leaders  in the participation, the leadership, the  crime prevention and solving, and the monitoring and the evaluation were at the middle level.

2. The comparison of  the community leaders' participation in the prevention and suppression of crime in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province by classifying on the personal factors: sex, age, status, degree of education, occupation, income, and duration of occupying was found that the community leaders' participation in the prevention and suppression of crime in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province had no the difference. Therefore, the hypothesis was denied.

3. The problems, obstacles, and suggestions for the community leaders' participation in the prevention and suppression of crime in Muang District, Nakhonsawan Province were that  the community leaders did not participate in planning the budget in the prevention and suppression of crime. The community leaders did not participate in setting the plan for the prevention and suppression of crime. Moreover, the community leaders did not the opportunity in the prevention and suppression of crime.  The community leaders did not have the monitoring and the evaluation in the prevention and suppression of crime.
