Abstract

 This dissertation entitled “A Model of the Enlightenment in Theravada ÚBuddhism” comprises of three objectives: namely, (1) to study the meaning, characteristics and teaching types concerning to the Enlightenment (2) to study the enlightenment procedures in Theravada Buddhism (3) to analyze model of the Enlightenment in terms of Qualitative Research emphasized on Documentary Research.

     It was found that the Enlightenment in Theravada ÚBuddhism meant the enlightenment in either Lokuttaradhamma of the nine superabundant states or one of them. Additionally, the conditional changes of worldly persons or ordinary men have turned out to be another one stage of the noble or holy persons; then, excluded from defilement and desires in consistence with the such power of the Noble Path. The characteristics of the enlightenment in Theravada Buddhism are mutually related to the Sayojana in many aspects. However, types of the enlightenment teaching in Theravada Buddhism have meant the Bodhipakkhiya-dharma the thirty-seven qualities as the practical processes aiming at the last aim of the enlightenment comprised of seven categories; namely, the four Satipaṭṭhāna, the four Sammappadhāna, the four Paths of Iddhipāda, the five Indriya, the five of Bala (powers or strength),      sense-faculties, the seven of Bojjħaga (Constituents or Factors of Enlightenment, as well as (Ariyamagga) the Noble Eightfold Path.
