A Process of Communication for Building Peaceful Organization by Buddhist Peaceful Means

Abstract

          This research is of three objectives: 1.To study obstacles and communication means in the present time of organization, 2.To study principles and communication means for building peaceful organization by Buddhist peaceful means, and 3.To present a result of a process of communication for building peace in organization by Buddhist peaceful means. This research was done by Mixed-Method Design consisted of Qualitative Research and Quantitative Research in Pre - Experimental Design which was developed for trial training model with a group of 17 persons who were employees from an organization in private sector with an analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data for improving, developing and presenting the communication training process for building peaceful organization by Buddhist peaceful means.  

                 The research findings are as followings:  

                 1) Present communication means are via many channels and in many types of communication, such as Line Application, E-mail, phone and face to face communication.  The good means and the most effective way of communication is face to face communication while the second most effective is phone communication, and follows by Line Application. Communication barriers in organization are false communication, incomplete-information communication, and not checking and reading e-mails, etc.

                 2) Communication Principles and Means for building peaceful organization by Buddhist peaceful means are non-emotional communication, open-mindedness towards other opinions, and talking useful truths, etc.

                 3) The presentation of a result of Communication Process for building peaceful organization by Buddhist peaceful means consists of having the right understanding (Sammadhiti), listening in the same matching way, having mindfulness, having mindful attention to others, and communicating with peaceful messages.

                   In additions, the outcomes from the research also suggested that for those who had participated in training model of communication for developing Peaceful Organization by applying Buddhist Peaceful Means and understood the methods, willing to practice as well as seeing the importance of the various methods, they had benefits from positive changes that they could personally observed from having the present mindfulness, and they could understand more of themselves and others.   Understanding the concept of “Time in Our Lives” yielded them to live their lives in accordance with the truths that made them happier. Deep and active listening, helped lessen conflicts; Having no four biases caused them to gain more trust from their colleagues; creating clear working manual could help them work faster as well as decreasing conflicts; having attention to others and perceiving different views made them accept different opinions, etc. The levels of behavioral changes before and after the training were implicitly high in every topic at 0.05 statistically.  Giving prioritized levels of importance to the methods, the most significant one was ‘Clear Communication’, the second was ‘Aligning Oneself with Others by Listening’, and the third was ‘Communication with Beneficial Truths’.  When the outcome made the staffs happier, it will also lead to a peaceful organization.

                 The New knowledge gained from the research is the communication process for building peace organization, simply abbreviated as “SAME Peace” for short.;  S - :Sammadhiti :(Right Understanding): To have the right view by observing things as they are in reality by both the message senders and receivers in the communication process;. A- : Aligning  Oneself with Others: To listen in aligned point of views by active and deep listening techniques; M-: Mindfulness: To focus on having mindfulness in the present moment both message senders and receivers; E-: Empathy: To pay mindful attention on others’ thoughts, behaviors, and feelings, which will enable better understanding and acceptability of differences in point of views and ideas; Peace-: Peace Messages:  To peacefully communicate, make proper and beneficially true  speech without having bias.
