Abstract

The aims of this research were: 1) to study the conditions of the educational institution administration based on the concept of Four Brahmavihara Dhamma (Pāli: brahmavihāra, sublime states of the mind); 2) to compare the perspectives of the administrators and teachers towards the educational institution administration based on Four Brahmavihara Dhamma; 3) to study the ways to promote the educational institution administration based on Four Brahmavihara Dhamma under Kalasin Primary Educational Service Area Office II. This study employed the mixed methods research to collect the data. For the quantitative research, the population included 992 administrators and the samples were 278 of the educational administrators and teachers selected based on simple sampling of Krejcie and Morgan method.  The tool used to collect the data was the questionnaire with its reliability of .96 and the statistics used were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation. T-test and F-Test. For the qualitative research, the key informants were 12 of the samples selected by purposive sampling and the tool used in this stage was a structured interview form and an in-depth interview form. The data in this stage were analyzed by the statistics: Frequency and Percentage, before being interpreted through the content analysis technique.

The research results were as follows:

1) The overall statistic score of the conditions of the educational institution administration based on the concept of Four Brahmavihara Dhamma was rated at a high level ( = 4.05, S.D. = .14). The scores of all aspects were rated at a high level also. The highest can be seen in the financial management based on Four Brahmavihara Dhamma ( = 4.10, S.D. = .24), followed by that of the personal management ( = 4.06, S.D. = .23) and academic management ( = 4.03, S.D. = .24); the least can be seen in the aspect of the general management ( = 3.99, S.D. = .25)

2) The overall comparative results of the opinions of the administrators and teachers towards the education institutions classified by their duties, education and working experiences are different with the statistical significance level of .01.

3) The ways to promote the educational institution administration based on Four Brahmavihara Dhamma under Kalasin Primary Educational Service Area Office II can be made by: 1) in the aspect of academic management, the administrators should monitor the personnel virtue, honesty, right and should give them recommendations and problem solution; 2) in term of the financial management, the administrator should clearly appoint the person responsible to the financial system, accounting, and office supplies; 3) in the aspect of personnel administration, the administrators should praise and encourage their subordinates equally; 4) in the general management, the should provide help and listen to the teachers’ and educational staff’ opinions regularly.
