Abstract

From the  study  of  the  standards  of  the  Judgment  of  the  Ethics  given by  Aristotle  and  Phra  Brahmagunabhorn  (P.A.  Payutto),  it  is  found  that  the  human  beings’  highest  aims  according  to  Aristotle’s  and  Phra  Brahmagunabhorn’s  opinions are happiness.  Phra  Brahmagunabhorn emphasizes  the  happiness  called  “Nibbana” which is the state  of  the emanciation  from  all  the difililements  which  are  the  peaces   in  the  human  beings’  minds.  One  who  reaches  such the  state  is  called  the  Ariyapuggala,  but  the  happiness  in  Aristotle’s  opinion  is  of   the  “Eudaimonia”  which  is  the result  of  the  complete  action  which  can  be  realized  by  oneself.  One  who  receives  such  happiness  is  called  the  one  who  is  of  the  happiness  possessed  by  the  deities.

One  who  will  be  able  to  receive  the  highest   happiness  must  behave         oneself  to  be  in  the  realm  of   virtuous  morality which  shows the Characteristics  of good habit. The good gualitifications possessed by Aristotle and  Phra  Brahmagunabhorn  are  not  different,  but  some  views  possessed  by  Aritotle  and  Phra  Brahmagunabhorn

are  different.  That  is  to  say,  Aristotle  has  the  view  that  everybody  has  to  do duties

rightly.  On  the  contrary,  Phra  Brahmagunabhorn  has  the  idea  that  everybody  must  help  one another  and   has  Loving - Kindness  to  one  another,  and  everybody’s  actions  do  not  cause trouble  to  oneself  and  others.

Both the scholars  have  the  ideas  that  the  ethical  values  are  in  both               good  and  bad  actions.  The  ethical  judgments  given  by  Aristotle  and                                 Phra  Bhrahmagunabhorn  are  that  the  action  done  by  selection,  consideration  and  responsibity,  can  be  controlled  by  the  human  beings  themselves.

What  have  been  mentioned  before  is  composition  of  the  levy  of  the  judgment  of  the  ethics.  In  the  levy  of  the  judgment  according  to  Aristotle  views,  the  intention  and  the  non-intention  is  hold  as  a  levy  in  the  judgment  of  the  good  and  bad  action.  The  action  arising  from  the  non-intention  or  the  foolishness  should  be  forgiven.  Anyhow,  the  arising  from  the  intention  is  regarded  as  the  one  arising  from  wisdom  and  reasons.  Such  action  can  be  judged  according  the  Doctrine  of  the  Mean  given  by  Aristotle.  On  the  other  hand  Ven.  Phra  Bhrahmagunabhorn  has  regarded  the  levy  of  the  judgment  of  the  ethics    with  the  emphasis  on  the  volition  as  the  important  one  by  holding  the  meretricious  and  the  demeritorious  volition  as  the  main  levy.  However,  the  lowe  levy  is  whether  such  action  is  accepted  by  the  claver  people  or  not.
